2004 Election

We will be sending out ballots at the end of July for the upcoming election of Directors to be ratified at the Annual Meeting in October. Currently, we have two vacancies on the Board. Denise Baune resigned her position as Chronicles Chair for personal reasons. We accepted her resignation on March 26, 2004. Diana Coleman resigned her position as Public Relations Chair for personal and political reasons. We accepted her resignation on June 3, 2004. In addition two board members - Len Levenda, Special Projects, and Susan Manchester, Secretary, will have served their one year term in October leaving two additional positions open. It is likely that Len and Susan will submit their names for re-election.

Now is the time to start thinking about becoming a candidate for the Board of Directors. We are in desperate need of help with public relations, fundraising, and support group coordination but certainly are open to other ideas. Having served as a Director and Chair of the Research Committee for the past year, I can attest to the fact that it has been a very challenging and rewarding experience. It has given me great satisfaction to feel like I am doing something to further this organization’s goals of increasing awareness, fostering support, and funding research. In the face of a disorder that often leaves me feeling like I’m floundering, serving on the Board has been like a port in a storm. It has been a very empowering experience and has given me a sense of stability and control that was lacking for many years.
