The Mastocytosis Society (TMS) holds an annual conference. The 2008 Annual Meeting will be located at the Hilton Minneapolis/Bloomington Hotel, The conference, organized and hosted by the Minnesota and North Central support groups, will begin Thursday evening, October 16, 2008, with the 2nd Annual TMS Walk-a-thon, and will conclude Sunday morning, October 19, 2008.

Walkers

When you arrive at the Walk-a-thon location, a TMS volunteer will be there to collect your pledge sheet along with any funds you have already collected. Your emergency contact information sheet and liability waiver forms must be completed and submitted before your are able to walk.

For Guests of the Hilton in Bloomington, shuttle service to the Mall will begin at 5:00 pm and end at approximately 7:00 pm (last run from mall to hotel)***This is subject to hotel policies and availability.

Light snacks and water will be provided to walkers and their guests.

Walker Checklist & FAQs

What will happen when you arrive at the Walk-a-thon?

• When you arrive at Southdale Shopping Center TMS Walk Post a TMS Walk Coordinator or TMS Volunteer will greet you.
• You will be shown where to proceed to the Registration table
• Walk begins promptly at 6:00pm. Signs along the path will designate rest stops and restrooms.
• Volunteers will be available at ever quarter-mile marker.
• When you have completed the walk you will report to the Finish Line and sign out.
• Refreshments will be served when the walkers have reached the finish line.

What should I bring to the Walk?

• Please bring your pledge forms and any pledge money you have already received.
• You will also bring your signed liability waiver form.
• You will also bring your signed and filled in Emergency Contact Form.

What should I Wear?

• Comfortable clothing. Walking shoes or sneakers

What if it rains-do we still walk?

• Yes, we will walk rain or shine. The mall is enclosed.

If you live in the Bloomington/Minneapolis area or will be at the Walk-a-thon not walking, we hope you will consider please helping with such things as giving directions, handing out water, and cheering on our walkers.
